Dr. Bidhan Ghosh - chem.bidhan@ou.edu
From West Bengal, India, Bidhan obtained his B.Sc in Chemistry from Midnapore College and M.Sc from IIT Guwahati. Bidhan earned his Ph.D in ‘Synthetic Organic Chemistry’ in 2020 from IIT Kharagpur under the guidance of Prof. Dipakranjan Mal and Prof. Rajarshi Samanta. After that he joined the Sharma Laboratory as a Post-Doctoral fellow in February 2021. Outside the lab, he loves to travel, play cricket and watch football.
Random Fact: Bidhan was a university-level cricket player.
Dr. Dinesh Paymode– Dinesh.J.Paymode@ou.edu
Originally from Pune, India, Dinesh obtained his B.Sc. from Balasahed Jadhav ACS College, Pune and M.Sc. from Abasaheb Garware College, Pune. After graduation in 2011, he worked as a “Research Associate Scientist” in TATA Advinus Therapeutics Pvt. Ltd., Pune. In 2012, he joined the Ph.D. program at CSIR–National Chemical Laboratory, Pune under the supervision of Dr. C.V. Ramana where he worked on total synthesis and method development using Ru-catalyzed C–H activation. In 2018 he joined the Sharma Laboratory as a Post-Doctoral fellow. His favorite thing about OU was the direct access to NMR facilities. Outside of lab he loved to travel, cook, and swim. Random Fact: Dinesh was raised in “Junnar” which is overloaded with natural beauty and the inordinate history of the great warrior “Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj"“
Dr. Prashant Mandal - prashantmandal@ou.edu
From Nashik City, Maharashtra, India, Prashant obtained a Bachelor’s (2009) and Master’s Degrees (2011) in Organic Chemistry from the H.P.T. Arts and R.Y.K. Science College from Pune University, India. After graduation, in 2012, he worked as a “Project Assistant” in IISER Pune. In 2013 he joined the Ph.D. program under the supervision of Dr. A. Vijay Kumar, ICT Mumbai. In November 2020, he joined the Sharma Laboratory as a Post-Doctoral fellow. His favorite thing about OU is the direct access to NMR facilities. Random Fact: Outside of the lab, he loves to travel, cook, and watch movies.

Dr. Arianne Hunter – Arianne.C.Hunter-1@ou.edu

Placement: Forensic Chemist at the US Army Criminal Investigation Laboratory
From Oklahoma City, OK, Arianne obtained her B.A. in Chemistry at Dartmouth College under the guidance of Dr. Gordon Gribble. After graduation in 2014, Arianne joined the Ph.D. program at OU where she was a fully funded SMART Department of Defense Scholar and Nancy L. Mergler Dissertation Completion Fellow. During her graduate studies she had won multiple awards including the Ronald E. Lehr Scholarship, Jerry J. Zuckerman Scholarship, Sherril D. Christian Scholarship, and she even won Oklahoma’s NextGen Under 30. Her favorite thing about the department was the direct access to NMR, Mass-Spec facilities, and X-Ray Crystallography. Her favorite hobby outside of lab was working out and cooking full course meals she learned from the cooking channel. Random Fact: Arianne was a NCAA Division I College Basketball Player

From Clintonville, NY, Nick obtained his B.A. and M.Sc in Chemistry at SUNY Oswego under Dr. Fehmi Damkaci. After graduation, Nick joined the Ph.D program at OU in 2014. His favorite thing about The University of Oklahoma was the beautiful campus and the kindness of the faculty and staff in the Chemistry department. His favorite hobby outside of lab was training for Titan Martial Arts in Norman. Random Fact: Nick was a NCAA Division III Wrestler and an amateur MMA Cage Fighter.

Placement: Research Scientist at Cytovance in Oklahoma City
Joe was born in Elk River, Minnesota and later obtained his B.Sc. in Chemistry at Augustana University under Dr. Jetty Duffy-Matzner. He then came to OU and joined the Ph.D. program in 2016. His favorite thing about OU was the open lab space and access to NMR, Mass Spec, Glass Blowing and Crystallography. His favorite hobby outside of lab was working on cars. Random Fact: Joe worked with a biotech company synthesizing polymers with anti-microbial properties

Originally from Penfield, NY, Steven moved to Beavercreek, Ohio in 2011. He then obtained his B.Sc. in Chemistry at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio under Dr. Benjamin Gung. Steven joined the Ph.D. program at OU in 2015. His favorite thing about OU was the friendly culture and the tailgate events CBR organized. His favorite hobby outside of lab was playing the electric guitar as loud as possible and relaxing with his wife, Bre, and two dogs, Pickles and Dig.

From The Bahamas, Anae traveled to the US to obtain her B.Sc. in Chemistry at Taylor University under the advisement of Dr. Dan Hammond. After graduation she joined the Ph.D. program at OU in 2017. Her favorite thing about OU are the facilities because they help foster a productive work environment. Anae wishes she had more hobbies but her favorite pastime is watching cartoons. Random Fact: Anae is a classically trained pianist and has been playing for 18 years.

From Shanghai, China, Chenxin earned his B.S. in Chemistry from the East China University of Science and Technology. Previously, he spent two years in the United Kingdom studying chemistry. After that he joined the Ph.D. program at OU in the Fall of 2017. His favorite thing about OU is football and his favorite hobby outside of lab is role playing games. Random Fact: He was a traveler and he has been to ten provinces in China and six other countries.

From Busan, South Korea, Ginny traveled to the US to obtain her B.Sc. in Chemistry. She joined the Sharma Lab while she was taking the Advanced Synthesis course with Dr. Sharma. Her favorite thing about OU is the diversity and the friends she has made. She is fluent in three languages and her favorite hobbies outside of lab are playing the guitar and piano.

Her favorite thing about OU is that there is always something to do around campus. Outside of lab she enjoys doing outdoor activities like backpacking and rock climbing.
